The 136TH Running Of The Kentucky Derby
Contenders:
First: American Lion: The son of Tizow has displayed 2 forms of running styles. The preferred is going for the lead and never look back, which will not be the case with 4 or 5 others dueling for the lead. Option 2 will be the logical choice where he stays in striking distance {he has enough speed to do that} and “gradually” gain on the leaders in mid stretch. “Now at this point he definitely owns a third gear to use his stamina and sprint away from the frontrunners and at the same time turn back any closers.
Second: Devil May Care: He fits here as a stalker and was going to my first choice. However, due to his unruliness at the gate, he might be a very risky proposition especially in a twenty horse field.
Third: Ice Box: He should be approximately twenty five lengths at some point during the race and will be closing fast to hit the board by benefiting from a hot pace.
Fourth: Sidney’s Candy: He loves to go to the lead from the get go, but post twenty severely compromise that scenario. If he learns to rate for the first time, he will be right there.

Kentucky Derby
While you can watch the 136th annual running of the Kentucky Derby this Saturday on NBC Sports, there is only one place worth betting the fastest two minutes in sports. The Derby field is wide open this year with eight horses at 12/1 or less, led by favorite Lookin' At Lucky. Lookin' At Lucky's trainer, Bob Baffert, is in search of his fourth Kentucky Derby victory, while perennial leading Trainer Todd Pletcher, with four entries in this year's Derby, is in search of his first win.
"This year's Kentucky Derby field is one of the most competitive I've seen, the Derby draws over 100,000 fans and 40 million TV viewers and is one of the country's most celebrated sporting events. As the first leg in horse racing's coveted Triple Crown, it's also one of the biggest betting days of the year."
We have a lot of different plays that may come up for the big race but we always want to be sure before we throw out some crazy wager ideas including win/place/show, exacta, trifecta and head-to-head horse, jockey and trainer props, as well as cross-sport props. The oddsmakers are the most creative in enticing bettors to place wagers that they normally wouldnt even dream of, and they'll be harnessing that creativity as they continue to post a slew of Kentucky Derby props leading up to this weekend's big race.
